Walkabout is an exceptional stallion who stereotypes the modern ideal sporthorse - possessing top quality conformation, gaits, elasticity, and temperament. In 2003 as a 3 year old he won every in hand class entered, culminating in being the AWS silver medalist 3 year old stallion. In addition to being awarded a gold medal and a supreme rating at his AWS inspection as a 3 year old, Walkabout was also the AWS national inspection gold medalist 3 year old stallion. As a 4 year old he was the AWS national gold medalist for both 4 year old stallions in hand and materiale. Although injuries have sidelined him on a few occasions, Walkabout is a serious contender in the dressage ring. In 2006 he made his debut at training level, winning many of his classes - sweeping them at the Fort Vancouver Dressage Show in Vancouver, WA, and earning an 80% at Lake Oswego Hunt. He ended the season as the Oregon Dressage Society Year End Open Training Level Champion. After a hiatus for injury recovery, Walkabout returned to the show ring in 2010 at first level. Again he won many of his classes, finishing the season as the ODS Year End Open First Level Reserve Champion, and being named the USDF All Breeds Awards Champion at 1st level, open for AWS. He has been trained, ridden, and shown by his owner. While a great show record is important, the mark of a great stallion is his ability to pass on his superior qualities to his offspring. As a grandson of both Weltmeyer (Han) and Chrysos (West) Walkabout combines the genes of two of the top dressage lines to pass on to his get. While he has a small foal crop, those that have been shown have been very successful. Boomerang QRF was very successful in hand from 2005 - 2008, placing first nationally in his age/sex group for AWS in '06 and '08, and 2nd in '07. In 2008 he was named the AWS Mature Horse of the Year. The same year Perfect Walking Moment was the national gold medalist in hand yearling filly for AWS, and was also crowned the AWS Young Horse of the Year. In 2009 Dreamtime QRF and Perfect Walking Moment were 1st and 2nd respectively at their inspection - both receiving supreme status for their scores. Those high scores secured their positions as national inspection gold and silver medalist 2 year old fillies. Both have gone on to successful careers as dressage mounts for their amateur owners - their accomplishments in the show ring overshadowed only by their kind, calm dispositions. Boomerang QRF continued under saddle after his in hand career. In 2010 he was shown at open training level - again winning many of his classes, and finishing as the USDF All Breeds Awards Champion at training level, open for AWS. In 2011 he was shown at 1st level, and despite having to deal with an injured rider was named USDF All Breeds Awards Champion at first level, open for AWS. Although Walkabout is descended from classic dressage lines, he showed phenomenal ability over fences when free jumped. Unfortunately his injury put an end to a promising jump career. Those offspring that have been jumped show lovely form and a great deal of potential.
